Harvesting Season
Three months have now passed since the start of my composting bin in my one bedroom apartment. The easy part was figuring out what I could and couldn’t put in the bin. Although some days I admittedly spent too much time googling “Can I put lemon skins in my compost?” Long story short, composting my kitchen scraps has created a great soil mixture for my plants. A few seeds were thrown into the bin accidentally and immediately germinated, grew stems, and produced one colorless leaf. This year I will be harvesting, tomatoes, peppers and hopefully a pumpkin! Quarantine time has turned into my penchant for planting in living spaces.
Planting is not so much a new found love but definitely a love that I am now giving more time and attention to. Planting in my home is plant decor which is the beauty in growing, placing, and propping plants in an elegant space. My home now has several cactuses, house plants, and other succulents that make me feel at peace in a world of war. One day I looked at my dieffenbachia and realized it was dying. I had over-watered it. After some research I trimmed the yellow leaves, conjured up some homemade plant tea, and added compost. Nursing a plant back to health taught me appreciation for all forms of life. I appreciate the earth aiding life and giving me breath. While caring for the plants I am taken on a journey of reproduction, reconstruction, and retirement. This is when I realized that there were commonalities in plants and people!
Through plants I will teach people about real estate and provide great tips and advice to home buyers. What does one have to do with the other? When repotting a plant, it goes into a little bit of shock due to the change in environment. When a person moves to a new home, it is often difficult to sleep through the first night alone. One would argue that this person is going through a wee-bit of shock and trying to adjust to the change. Maybe I am reaching with such claims but there are millions of scenarios like this one where plants and humans act the same. That is how @repottingthefloors came to be. Through the intersections of plants, people, and living spaces, I am able to teach my community about real estate.
This month I rented out an Airbnb in order to take photos next to huge plants for this new platform @repottingthefloors. This platform will aid my community into financial freedom and it will all start with a little appreciation for life. I will be creating monthly goals and documenting my experience in the home buying process. I welcome everyone on my own journey to become a home buyer, plant lover, and investor in real estate.
